Our History

Since 1973, Circle R Ranch has been the preferred choice for memorable special events, elegant galas and exclusive corporate outings.

Canada Dry executive Alan L. Powdermaker had a vision – relocate his family from New York to Texas and build a ranch designed to entertain private groups in an authentic western setting. The new family-owned and operated business, Circle R Ranch, hosted its first event on Sept. 20, 1973 for 28 guests. From that modest start and with a pledge of “We Promise a Lot, We Give More,” the Powdermaker Family grew Circle R Ranch to host more than 100,000 guests each year for company outings and convention events.

From 1997-2011, Circle R Ranch was operated by Managing Partners Steven and Wendy Foster, the first husband-and-wife business team to achieve the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. Under their leadership, Circle R Ranch emerged as a nationally recognized special event venue, earning more than 15 top industry awards. Fortune Magazine, in its 2009 profile of the Fosters, noted, “the Ranch, known for its over-the-top hospitality, hosts meetings and special events for some of the world’s biggest corporations.”

In 2012, a new management team took the reins at Circle R Ranch. Jason and Hillary Roberts have been a vital part of the Circle R Ranch Family since 1997, serving in various leadership roles in sales, operations and event production during the years Circle R Ranch became a nationally recognized special event venue.

In 2013, Jason and Hillary created Genuine Texas Hospitality, LLC as the new operating company for Circle R Ranch. As new owners, Jason and Hillary are committed to building on the legacy, partnerships and Genuine Texas Hospitality they have helped create over the past two decades.

In 2017, the Roberts family purchased the property of Circle R Ranch from the Powdermaker Family, and look forward to carrying on the Texas Traditions for many years to come.
